Two separate extortion cases involving two local men in online naked chats were reported to the police by the respective victims last week, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said at a regular press conference on Monday.
According to Ho, the two cases occurred on Saturday and Monday respectively, and both victims said that they each met a female on a social media platform, after which she invited them individually to chat in the nude in a messaging app. Ho noted that after they started chatting in the nude, the session ended abruptly and the female then sent them a video taken during the naked chats and asked for hundreds of thousands of yuan, threatening that the video would be released to their respective families if they failed to pay up.
The victims transferred 5,800 yuan (6,900 patacas) and 10,500 yuan respectively to the scammers’ bank accounts. Later, the scammers tried to blackmail them again, leading the victims finally to report their cases to the police, Ho said.
