A local man has been arrested for surreptitiously taking videos of men in the locker room of a clubhouse, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The 45-year-old suspect surnamed Lei, who works as a clerk, is single.

According to Wong, a man reported to the police last Wednesday that when he was changing his clothes in the male locker room of a clubhouse at a residential estate in Coloane, he found a camera in a bag that had been switched on and suspected that it was used for filming people in the room.

Lei was intercepted at the estate last Thursday morning, Wong said, adding that police officers found more than 1,100 pictures and 500 videos on Lei’s smartphone, as well as over 40 pictures and 500 videos on his camera.

Wong said that the videos found on his camera included men changing their clothes and men in their underwear.

Lei said that he started his “filming habit” in 2020, taking pictures and videos of men he “fancied” in the streets. After he moved into the residential estate in December 2021, he began filming men changing their clothes in the men’s locker room.

Lei has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of violating people’s privacy, Wong said.
