Wynn Palace said in a recent statement that it will be hosting “The Prestigious Perfection of Ningxia” wine event on Friday and Saturday.
Ningxia, the statement noted, is among the mainland’s most important wine regions. The event will have masterclasses held in English and Putonghua from “two of the world’s leading authorities on wine” – Fongyee Walker MW and Li Demei.
Walker’s masterclass, where she will explore the emerging diversity of wines in Ningxia, will take place on Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. According to the statement, Walker is among only a handful of “Masters of Wine” (MW) worldwide and is the first to reside in the mainland, where she is also the most qualified wine educator and among the “most recognised Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Certified Educator”.
She is also an experienced wine judge, the statement said, and has provided wine courses for wine companies and associations in the mainland and worldwide.
Li’s wine masterclass will take place on the same day from 4:30-5:30 p.m., where the National Wine Consultant and Senior Winemaker will talk about the diversity of wines in the Eastern Foothills of Helan Mountain in Ningxia.
The statement added that Li is a consultant for many wine-producing regions and wineries worldwide and has won several awards throughout his career.
The Drinks Business, the leading drinks trade publication, ranked Li among the world’s Top 10 most influential wine consultants, while wines produced under his guidance have garnered over 500 international awards, the statement underlined.
Meanwhile, the statement said that a “Walkaround Tasting” session will have 17 “renowned wineries” and a range of over 50 top wines from Ningxia. The session will take place on Friday from 2:30-5:30 p.m.
Moreover, on Saturday, “The Prestigious Perfection of Ningxia” Gala Dinner will be held at Wynn Palace’s Grand Theatre from 7 p.m., while a cocktail will start at 6 p.m. The event, the statement noted, will be presented by Certified China Master Chef Yun Peng Yu in collaboration with Wing Lei Palace Executive Chef Tam Kwok Fung. It will showcase Ningxia’s culinary characteristics and authentic flavours of Canton.
