IFTM Career Day offers 1,200 vacancies

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) said in a statement that it held its Career Day on its Taipa campus yesterday, with booths set up by 65 organisations with around 1,200 job vacancies offered.

According to the statement, the organisations, which included some from Hong Kong, Guangdong and Shanghai, also provided job details and information, as well as the latest job market trends to graduating IFTM students.

The statement noted that there were also on-site interviews, while two alumni entrepreneurs were also invited to talk about their experiences at the “Alumni Entrepreneur Sharing Session”.

Representatives from government entities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) were also invited to set up booths at yesterday’s Career Day, as well as deliver talks and workshops from February 22 to 18 March.

Meanwhile, according to the Career Placement Survey for 2021/2022 graduates, the statement underlined, 73.3 percent of respondents with a master’s degree were able to find full-time employment, with those working full-time in Macau earning a monthly median salary of 17,250 patacas.

The statement added that for respondents who graduated with a bachelor’s degree, 85.3 percent were either employed, started a business or pursued a higher education level. Bachelor’s degree full-time graduate respondents in Macau earned 15,600.

Moreover, the statement noted that among the respondents who graduated with a bachelor’s, 50.2 percent were employed in the tourism and hospitality sector. This is followed by 17.1 percent in the service sector, 8.6 percent in the education sector, 6.8 percent in the financial and insurance sector, and 6.2 percent in the conference and exhibition sector.

The remaining 11.1 percent, the statement said, were employed in other sectors.
