A local man has been arrested for riding a motorcycle under the influence in Taipa, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Lei is a man in his 60s who claimed to be unemployed.
According to Lam, when the police were on patrol in Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental at around 10 p.m. on Thursday, they discovered Lei and a fallen motorcycle lying on the road. Police officers then approached him and found him reeking of alcohol. Lei claimed that he had been drinking during lunchtime in the peninsula’s San Kio district that day and had lost control of the motorcycle due to his drunkenness.
After a breathalyser test, his blood alcohol level was recorded at 2.6 grammes per litre.
Lei has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a drunk-driving charge, according to Lam.
