Macau and Portugal signed two agreements, one on tourism and the other on food safety, yesterday at Government Headquarters. The pacts aim to strengthen co-operation between the two governments in both fields.
Portugal’s Economy Minister Manuel Cabral signed the Agreement on Co-operation in Tourism with Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng, while the Agreement on Co-operation in Monitoring and Supervising Food Activities was signed by Cabral and Secretary for Administration and Justice Sonia Chan Hoi Fan.
Speaking to reporters after the signing ceremony, Cabral said that he had confidence in Macau’s food safety. According to Cabral, part of the agreement aims to co-operate in training local specialists and to build a systematic, educational and preventive mechanism.
The signing ceremony was one of the activities of the 5th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, which ends today.
