The Macau Vocal Association (MVA) held the association’s annual activity – Macau Vocal Festival – for the ninth-year last week, featuring vocalist recitals, opera excerpts, and a talk about operas.

The association was founded in 2010 by Lei Siu Hong, a baritone singer, and his adult students from the Macau Conservatory. Since then, the association has frequently organised recitals, concerts, talks, and opera performances in Macau.

The Macau Post Daily published an exclusive interview with Lei on March 22.

The three vocalist recitals presented Lei, sopranos Zeena Zheng and Rina See, while the opera excepts concert featured performances which combine singing, drama, and stage acts. Senior music critic Shee Va, a medical specialist known for his creative opera talks, also introduced the idea of “potions and poison” used in opera during the festival.
