The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is slated to hold its weeklong “Experience Macao Unlimited – Macao Promotion in Lisbon” from this coming Saturday, being Macau’s first in-person tourism promotion event in Europe after the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the statement.
The statement noted that the promotional event is being done in conjunction with Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng’s upcoming working visit to Europe.
The April 15-22 event will showcase Macau’s new travel experience offerings in order to spark renewed interest in visiting Macau.
The event will feature highlights including the “Experience Macao Unlimited – Macao Exhibition in Lisbon”, which will focus on Macau’s tourism attractions and feature themed zones and booths, as well as installations. The Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) will set up their own booths, along with Macau’s six gaming concessionaires running a raft of integrated resorts.
There will also be video mapping shows in Lisbon’s waterfront Praça do Comércio displaying Macau’s offerings as a destination, according to the statement. It will be held four times per night during the event period and comprises four chapters to show the “Encounter of Chinese and Portuguese cultures”, “Heritage and Gastronomy”, aiming to deepen the cross-sectoral integration of “Tourism+” and the Macau government’s “1+4” economic diversification and development strategy, the statement said.
In collaboration with the Lisbon City Council and Equipment and Cultural Animation Management Committee (EGEAC), both the promotion event and video mapping shows are to be unveiled on April 19 in Praça do Comércio while trials will start this Saturday.
MGTO will also arrange for a delegation of Macau’s tourism sector to visit tourism projects in Portugal. The statement added that MGTO will partner with IPIM in holding an Economy, Trade and Tourism Presentation Seminar in Lisbon on April 19.
The delegation will also attend the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF) Elevated Collaboration Announcement Press Conference on April 21 in Lisbon, the statement said.
UNWTO and GTEF will announce the advancement of their cooperation during the press conference.
More details on the upcoming event will be released on MGTO’s social media platforms, the statement said.
