The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has launched the “EasyGo Public Toilet Navigation” with QR codes for the platform added to public toilet signs throughout the city, according to an IAM statement on Friday.

By scanning the QR code with their phones, the statement noted, members of the public can access the platform’s webpage and after enabling the device to confirm their location, use it to find the nearest public toilet. Users can also get information including the public toilet’s opening hours, its exact address and if it provides barrier-free facilities.

The statement said that users can save the picture of the QR codes to use the function when needed, while the bureau will increase the number of public toilet signs and QR codes for the public’s convenience.

Moreover, the statement pointed out, the bureau has been conducting the “Public Toilet Optimisation Programme” in recent years, where public toilets have been redesigned while their facilities have been “beautified”, according to the statement.

The statement added that public toilets’ specifications have also undergone enhancements and the ancillary facilities’ interior and layout have been optimised such as increasing the ratio of female toilet cubicles and installing disinfection and deodorisation equipment, among others.

The bureau, the statement underlined, will continue to improve public toilet facilities and strengthen their management to provide a better environment for members of the public.
