A local male clerk was arrested on May 1 for taking an upskirt video of a woman in her twenties at a supermarket on Rua do Canal das Hortas, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said during a regular press conference on Friday.
According to Lai, the local victim called PSP officers who arrived at the scene at about 10 a.m. on May 1 to say that a man had followed her while she was shopping in the supermarket for about 10 minutes, adding that while the victim was in the queue to pay the cashier, the man, who was holding his mobile phone behind her, kept adjusting the camera angle, so she suspected that he was taking sneak photos of her.
Under questioning, the suspect in his thirties, surnamed Chao, admitted that he had taken a sneak video of the victim’s private parts who was wearing a short skirt, Lai said, adding that upon checking the suspect’s mobile phone, the officers found that the video was encrypted and saved on the phone.
Chao has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, according to Lai.
