The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 10:20 a.m. yesterday that a man had committed suicide by cutting his wrists and hanging himself on a tour coach in the parking area of the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, the PJ spokesman said in a statement.
The deceased was a local man surnamed Loi aged 42.
According to the statement, a tour coach driver found the deceased hanging with electric wires from the luggage rack above the coach seats when passing by the idle coach at 10 a.m. yesterday and immediately notified police officers on duty nearby.
The paramedics who rushed to the scene confirmed that the man had passed away.
In addition to marks on his neck, the victim had wounds on both wrists and his throat. A bloodstained utility knife was found at the scene. PJ officers suspected that the deceased first cut his wrists and throat with the knife, then hanged himself with microphone wires.
The statement pointed out that a preliminary examination of the body showed that the deceased had no suspected criminal injuries, but the exact cause of death has yet to be determined by forensic examination.
The case has preliminarily been listed as a dead body found, the statement added.
