“The Scent of Lotus Perfumes the City of Macao – the 23rd Macao Lotus Flower Festival” is slated to take place between June 9 and June 18, according to a statement on Friday from the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM).
This year’s theme is “Strolling through Lotus”, which is derived from the establishment of Lou Lim Ioc Park in Macau and Lion Grove Garden in Suzhou as “sister gardens”.
The statement noted that during the period aside from the main exhibition venue in Avenida da Praia in Taipa, where the lotus flower exhibition will also be divided into three areas: “Classical Garden Scenery Area”, “Modern Garden Scenery Area” and “Entrance Square”, over 5,000 potted lotuses will also be placed along major streets, green areas and tourist attractions.
The statement added that one can also visit the lotus wetland in Taipa, noting that lotus flowers are in full bloom in June. Meanwhile, the statement added, there will be different lotus-themed activities such as parent-child workshops and eco-tours. Applications are open until May 29 and can be submitted via “Macao One Account” or in person at IAM’s Integrated Services Centre or different public services centres and stations.
The activities use the “registration first, lucky draw next” for applications, with the results to be released on “Macao One Account” on or after May 30. Applicants will be notified via SMS, the statement said.
Groups applying for the activities need to download the prospectus from the Macao Nature website and submit their applications accordingly, according to the statement.
