Galaxy Macau is showcasing the individual artworks of five well-known contemporary artists from Macau and Hong Kong at the “Artists-in-Residence: Summer Love – Live Mural Painting and Exhibition” at GalaxyArt, the integrated resort’s art space located within the Galaxy Promenade.
The five featured artists comprise Hong Kong mural artist and illustrator Bao Ho, Hong Kong artist and illustrator Kristopher Ho, Macau graffiti artists “MCZ” and “PIBG”, and Hong Kong mural artist and calligrapher Samantha Cheung.
Themed “Summer Love”, a recent Galaxy Macau statement noted that the artists came together “for a period of shared inspiration” at the resort. They spent six weeks at GalaxyArt, painting their pieces in a live format, the statement noted, adding that this provided art lovers with “a live window into their creative journey” as each artist presented their personal interpretation of the theme.
Aside from their individual works, a 50-metre-mural is also on display, which is an amalgamation of 10-metre-murals painted by each artist. The collaboration features a “kaleidoscope of creative styles and techniques, as well as underscoring the deep cultural ties between Macau and Hong Kong”, according to the statement.
During the exhibition’s opening ceremony last Thursday, Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) Chief Operating Officer Kevin Kelley said in a speech: “This event featured contemporary artists from Macau and Hong Kong who worked together to create a series of interesting and imaginative murals on the grounds of Galaxy Macau in what has been a remarkable showcase of the infinite possibilities of inspiration and creativity”.
He added: “In the future, we hope to continue to offer a variety of cultural, artistic, and performing arts activities for our guests so that they may embark on a journey of art appreciation during their stay at Galaxy Macau”.
