The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) is planning to increase its human resources to enable it to receive an additional 500 applications per day, providing a total of 1,100 slots for residents to apply for identity cards, travel documents and other documents, according to a DSI statement yesterday.

The statement said that this was in response to a significant increase in demand from residents to renew their identity cards and travel documents in the run up to the upcoming summer holidays, but the bureau currently has a reception capacity of just around 600 slots per day, resulting in long waiting times for residents.

According to the statement, the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will send 50 staff members to the DSI, while the DSI will improve its internal redeployment of human resources to enhance its counter capacity.

Citizens can make appointments for the card processing services on the website of the Identification Services Bureau at www.dsi.gov.mo, or use the “Macao One Account” mobile app. For enquiries, residents can call the bureau hotline on 2837-0777 or 2837-0888.

The bureau will closely monitor the demand for its ID card services and will take timely measures to respond to the demand, when necessary, the statement said.
