The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that it will launch its first large-scale promotional event in Asia for international visitors after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the “Experience Macao, Unlimited” Mega Roadshow in Bangkok starting today.
The statement noted that the road show will last three days.
A delegation comprising representatives from Macau’s travel trade and MGTO officials gave a presentation seminar yesterday for their counterparts in Thailand for an update about Macau’s “tourism +” elements and its “fascinating aspects” as a destination, the statement said.
The statement said that the seminar had around 120 participants, comprising MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) Vice President Somchai Chomraka, and representatives from Macau’s travel trade and six integrated resorts as well as from Thai travel agencies and airlines.
Senna Fernandes remarked that the seminar was held as Thailand is set to return to Macau’s Top Ten visitors list, as air travel has gradually resumed since February, while MGTO has launched promotional efforts “on all fronts” to restart the Thai market, according to the statement.
MGTO’s market representative in Thailand briefed the Thai travel trade and media at the seminar and presented Macau’s latest tourism situation and showcased the “Experience Macao, Unlimited” campaign for monthly city highlights and other tourism products, the statement said.
The event also featured a networking session for participants, which had both the Macau and Thai industry representatives design Macau itineraries and related products for Thai visitors and boost mutual visits, according to the statement.
Today’s roadshow, the statement added, will be unveiled in Bangkok and feature booths and interactive games, while Macau’s six integrated resort operators will promote their tourism facilities and attractions in their respective booths. The statement said that they will also launch special offers on various tourism products.
Macau welcomed over 150,000 visitors from Thailand in 2019, ranking them tenth as the largest source market, the statement said. MGTO launched promotional methods during March and May for Thailand’s travel trade and visitors, among others. The experience enabled them to have first-hand experience of Macau’s “tourism +” elements, the statement noted.
