Sands China launched “The Macao Showcase” at its sister property Marina Bay Sands in Singapore yesterday, inviting sales and trade partners, regional and international media, Singaporeans and travellers to experience Macau, according to a statement from the company.

The event, which had its opening ceremony at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore yesterday and ends tomorrow, is the company’s first major event organised in an overseas market post COVID-19, the statement noted.

The statement said that the event is also aimed at tourism and economic revival, and promoting the Macau government’s “tourism + MICE” cross-sector integration. Sands also led a delegation of around 200 people from local SMEs, associations and media to Singapore to promote Macau’s offerings.

The statement quoted Sands China President Wilfred Wong Ying-wai as saying: “We hope this event, the first of many, helps raise Macau’s profile as an international leisure and MICE destination, thereby attracting more international visitors and extending their length of stay – in support of the Macau government’s policies and efforts to diversify visitor source markets, fuel tourism, and spur economic revitalisation”.

The statement also quoted Sands China Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Grant Chum Kwan Lock as saying that the Sands Lifestyle+ campaign, which supports MGTO’s tourism+ concept and marketing strategy, “provides comprehensive destination insights” to potential visitors.

The statement added that eventgoers in Singapore are invited to explore “A Taste of Macao”, which showcases “different pillars of the Macau experience” at different tradeshow zones.

The event also offers “culinary treasures” such as Macau street food and “iconic bites” from Macau’s different small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), according to the statement.

Moreover, according to the statement, other event highlights include a speakeasy modelled after The St. Regis Bar at The Londoner Macao offering cocktails with gin from Macau’s Owl Man Distillery; a bazaar featuring Made-in-Macau wellness products; and the ‘Between Migrations’ art exhibition by the Macau Youth Art Association.

Also featured is the invitation-only Gala Dinner, which showcases the company’s signature culinary excellence and is crafted by its celebrated culinary talents, the statement said.

The MICE & Luxury Forum starts with a wellness breakfast today, where a line-up of international thought leaders and MICE specialists will discuss different topics in five themed sessions, the statement said, and live-streamed to The Londoner Macao’s Smart Stage.
