Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) said in a statement yesterday that the temporary housing project on Lot P in Areia Preta is entering the “typical floor construction phase”, the government-owned company said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the project’s pile foundation, excavation, floor structure and waterproofing works have been completed. The fitting-out works are slated to take place in the second half of this year, while the project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024.

The statement noted that Lot P, under the layout plan, will have eight residential towers comprising around 2,000 temporary housing units and a “sufficient number” of car and motorcycle parking spaces. To ease traffic flow in the area, the statement said that two 24-metre-wide public roads that each have a dual carriageway and pavements will be built there.

There will also be a bus interchange on the ground floor, an open green space and a “pedestrian street” to connect nearby neighbourhoods.

Meanwhile, the statement said that the project adopts the Building Information Modelling (BIM) process to generate 3D models to “detect construction issues and resolve them before the commencement of site construction works”. The process is also used to create “as-built drawings” for construction efficiency.

The project also applies prefabrication, the statement added, noting that over 1,000 precast concrete staircases were made in a factory and delivered to the construction site for direct assembly.

The statement said that the government-owned company also enables Iao Hon Estate property owners to discuss the redevelopment concept plan and encourage property owners to stand together and help property owners organise condominium owners’ general assembly meetings to set up management committees, among others.

MUR will also continue to arrange for old neighbourhood property owners to visit temporary housing show flats to better understand the project and boost their confidence in the redevelopment process, according to the statement.
