Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong announced yesterday two more suicide cases, in which a 45-year-old local woman died after hanging herself in her flat near Taipa Central Park, while a 55-year-old local woman killed herself by burning charcoal in her flat in a residential building on Rua de Sacadura Cabral.
45-year-old woman hangs herself at home
A PJ statement said that the Judiciary Police received a call from the 45-year-old victim’s family at 8:25 a.m. yesterday that the woman had committed suicide by hanging herself in the flat’s bathroom. The notification from the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre to the police noted that the victim who was not breathing and had no heartbeat upon arrival at the hospital was certified dead after emergency treatment had failed.
A suicide note was found at the victim’s home, according to the statement.
55-year-old woman burns charcoal at home
According to a separate PJ statement yesterday, upon receiving notification from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 5:36 p.m. that a female corpse was found lying on a bed in a residential flat on Rua de Sacadura Cabral, PJ officers arriving at the scene found a steel container with charcoal ashes next to the victim’s bed.
The statement said that the victim’s daughter had gone to her mother’s home at about 2 p.m., but no-one answered the door.
The statement noted that there were no signs of foul play at the scene.
The police said in the statement that no suicide note was found.
The exact cause of both deaths has yet to be determined by their respective forensic examinations, according to the two statements.
