A 71-year-old local man living alone was found dead yesterday afternoon at his home in a residential building on Rua Norte do Canal das Hortas, according to a Judiciary Police (PJ) statement.
PJ spokesman Lou Chan Fai said in the statement that the police were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) of the death at 1:30 p.m. yesterday. Lou said that the case has preliminarily been classified as a dead body found.
The statement quoted the victim’s family as saying that after receiving a message from his friend yesterday morning that he or she had been unable to contact the victim for days, a family member who went to the victim’s home in the afternoon found him unresponsive on a bed.
The statement did not reveal the gender of the friend and the family member.
The statement noted that the victim had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play, but the cause of the victim’s death was pending the outcome of a forensic examination.
