Responding to an enquiry by The Macau Post Daily last Thursday, the Public Security Police (PSP) noted in an email yesterday that in the first half of this year their officers fined 15 pedestrians for failing to obey the signal instructions on pedestrian crossings, 847 for jaywalking and 123 for affecting the safety of other road users.
Regarding pedestrians standing on the roadway in a way that obstructs traffic or committing any acts affecting the safe passage of vehicles, the Public Security Police reaffirmed in the email that their officers will not only advise the person concerned to return to a safe place, but also give out penalties on the offence in accordance with the law to ensure the safety of road users and guarantee a smooth traffic flow.
