SJM Resorts said in a statement on Wednesday that it recently organised a workplace experience event at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai for Fuhong Society of Macau members.
The event featured a vocational skills workshop and a tour of the integrated resort’s facilities, the statement noted, providing an opportunity for “individuals from vulnerable backgrounds” to interact and encourage them to improve their skills and “put their talents to good use”.
During the vocational skills workshops, SJM staff presented job-seeking strategies and techniques to the participants, as well as an introduction to the recruitment criteria for large-scale integrated resorts. The group then toured GLP’s logistics area, which provided them with “valuable insights into the workflow and activities of such establishments”, the statement said.
The statement added that participants went to the Fuhong Society of Macau “Happy Gift” retail point, which sells creative products handmade or packaged by Fuhong beneficiaries, at GLP’s “Made in Macau” shopping area. The retail point creates an “enabling platform for persons with disabilities to discover their potential and interests”, according to the statement.
The participants also visited the resort’s Jardim Secreto (Secret Garden) openair attraction, where they exchanged ideas about the event and received gift packages, the statement noted.
The statement said that the resort operator will continue to “collaborate closely with different organisations, understand the needs of individuals from all walks of life, and contribute to the creation of a diverse and harmonious society”.
Founded by a group of volunteers in 2003, the Fuhong Society of Macau is a nonprofit social service organisation dedicated to providing diverse services for persons with intellectual disabilities and persons with mental illness in rehabilitation, according to its official website.
