A fact-finding trip was organised by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in conjunction with Air Macau for a delegation comprising 14 tourism industry members from Tokyo and Osaka that took place from last Thursday until Sunday, according to an MGTO statement yesterday.

The statement noted that the delegation included representatives from travel agencies from Tokyo and Osaka who experienced Macau’s “tourism+” attractions.

The delegation’s itinerary included visiting the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Macau, and sampling various delicacies, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, MGTO also held the Tokyo & Osaka Travel Mart last Friday, which had over 60 participants including representatives from the local tourism industry such as those from travel agencies, hotels and airlines, along with the travel agency representatives from the Japanese delegation, the statement said.

The statement added that both parties had exchanges on each other’s tourism resources, products and industry information to “jointly explore more business opportunities for cooperation”, while MGTO also promoted the “Travel Stimulation Programme” at the travel mart.

According to the statement, Macau logged nearly 300,000 Japanese tourists in pre-pandemic 2019, ranking them as the third largest international tourist source that year. The statement noted that MGTO continues its promotional work in the international market and strives to attract more international tourists to visit Macau.
