TV viewers across the Pearl River Delta will soon be able to watch TDM at home, Macau’s government-owned broadcaster TDM said in a statement yesterday after it was granted TV landing rights by the National Radio and Television Administration yesterday.

TDM yesterday signed a cooperation agreement with Guangdong Broadcasting and Television Network Co. Ltd. to allow the broadcast of TDM across the Pearl River Delta, which means that TDM will be officially broadcast on Guangdong Pearl River Delta Television Network from October 1, with a trial broadcast to be begin on Tuesday and run until September 30, initially limited to the “Macau New Neighbourhood” residential zone in Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

A TDM statement described its broadcast throughout the Pearl River Delta region as a historic moment in the development of Macau’s radio and television industry, marking a new period of development for Macau’s television industry, which will open a new chapter and opportunity for the development of Macau’s cultural industry, social progress, and the better integration into the overall development of the nation and the development of the Greater Bay Area in the future.

TDM was launched on March 26, 1982 with its first broadcast on May 13, 1984, and now comprises six local TV channels, namely TDM Ou Mun, Canal Macau, TDM Sport, TDM Information, TDM Entertainment and TDM Macau World, while transmitting eight television channels from mainland China locally, comprising CCTV-1, CCTV-3, CGTN, CGTN Documentary, Strait Television, HunanTV World, Southeast Television, and GDTV World.

In the statement, TDM pledged that it will improve the level of programme production, present high-quality programmes with Macau characteristics for viewers in Macau and Guangdong.
