A 5-metre-tall tree collapsed and crashed onto Estrada de Cacilhas, according to a Fire Service Bureau (CB) statement yesterday afternoon.

According to the statement, no injuries were reported, but the fallen tree obstructed one of the road’s traffic lanes.

Estrada de Cacilhas is part of the Macau Grand Prix (MGP) Guia Circuit.

Upon receiving the emergency call, traffic police officers swiftly arrived at the scene to control the situation and ensure order on the road, the statement said, adding that firefighters carefully cleared the tree and the resulting debris and restored normal traffic flow.

Traffic police officers maintained order, the statement said, and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), has been notified about the case as the bureau is responsible for managing public spaces.

The Municipal Affairs Bureau has been reminding the public that trees are at risk of breaking under the influence of external forces such as wind and rain, and that members of the public should avoid entering and staying underneath trees during wind and rainstorms.

Members of the public who find any abnormalities in trees can call the IAM on 2833 7676 or contact the bureau through the “Municipal Services Online” at https://app.iam.gov.mo/iamconnect.
