A local man in his nineties has been arrested for stealing 11,000 patacas from a vehicle, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Chan Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect is surnamed Chan.
According to Lei, the female victim reported to the police that 11,000 patacas went missing from her car, which was parked on Avenida do General Castelo Branco last Thursday. She had left the car unlocked for approximately 10 minutes while she went to buy food nearby.
After checking the surveillance footage at the scene, police identified Chan and arrested him in Fai Chi Kei district. Chan admitted to the offence.
Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, according to Lei.
