A man from the mainland has been arrested for repeatedly touching a female passenger’s knee with his groin, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Lam identified the suspect as a 45-year-old man surnamed Chen. He told the police that he’s jobless.
According to Lam, Chen and the local victim got on the same bus last Saturday night at Rua do Cunha in Taipa, after which the victim sat near the bus door, while Chen stood beside her.
During the trip, the victim felt Chen touching her knee with his groin. Lam noted that the victim expressed her discontent several times, but Chen ignored her and continued his inappropriate behaviour. She immediately reported the case to the police after she got off the bus.
Chen was arrested on Sunday at a hotel in Taipa. Under questioning, Chen denied the accusation and claimed that he felt “fatigued” and mostly “kept his eyes closed” during the bus journey.
Chen has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a sexual harassment charge, according to Lam.
