A North American travel trade delegation visited Macau for a familiarisation trip, during which they also attended a travel trade seminar yesterday to connect with their local counterparts, the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement.

The statement noted that the visit, which lasted from September 12-14, was part of the delegation’s itinerary of a trip to the Greater Bay Area (GBA) jointly organised by the Overseas Affairs Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Beijing, Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong, Hong Kong Tourism Board, MGTO, and Air Canada.

The delegation visited places such as the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Macau and the city’s integrated resorts, as well as sampled signature delights, according to the statement. The delegation then crossed the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge and continued with their trip to the GBA.

Moreover, the statement said that the delegation, which comprised representatives from 10 travel agencies in the United States and Canada, attended yesterday’s local North America Trade Seminar, where they were welcomed by MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.

The statement noted that Senna Fernandes expressed hope that the trip would offer delegates a more in-depth experience of Macau’s diverse “tourism+”, and once again tap the potential of North America as a long-haul visitor market, strengthening cooperation and boosting mutual visits of travellers.

During the session, an MGTO representative introduced the city’s latest travel information and new travel experiences to the delegates, while a business matching session featured representatives from around 40 local hotels, travel agencies, integrated resorts and tourism-related facilities, according to the statement, creating a platform for face-to-face exchanges and discussions on business and partnership opportunities.
