A series of activities for visitors and residents to spend their Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, including exhibitions, food markets, puppet shows, game booths, and guided tours using augmented reality (AR) will be launched in different districts in Macau starting on September 29, Mid-Autumn Festival, according to a Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) statement yesterday.

Subsidised by the MGTO’s 2023 Specific Financial Support Programme for “Community Economic Tourism Development”, the activities are organised by local communities and associations, with the aim of providing new tourist attractions with “tourism+” elements to boost the economies of the local communities, the statement said.
The Story Vendor – The Sino-Portuguese Culture
The story will be shown in the form of puppet shows this and next weekend at the Taipa Houses, Flower City Garden, and Largo Maia de Magalhães, with a total of 12 performances, to introduce the historical background, cuisine and traditional stories of Sino-Portuguese cultural integration, the statement said.
Admission is free for the activity.
Taste Island – Mid-Autumn Gourmet Marketplace
The market will open from next Friday to Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Largo Camões da Taipa, providing activities such as gourmet workshops and live performances, with some products exclusive to the market to be launched and consumer coupons to be handed out, the statement said.
Typeface of the City 2023
This is a city tour that uses AR to present an Eastern and Western typography adventure in the city, taking place near the headquarters of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), the Ruins of St. Paul’s and Bairro Horta da Mitra, as well as providing workshops including movable type printing and book binding, typeface aesthetic fonts on an ancient map of Macau and making mini signboards, the statement said.
The event will include 12 sessions, which will be from next Saturday to December 10 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the statement said.
Travessa do Armazém Velho Festival 2023
Themed as “Generation Gap”, the event will present a series of themed workshops and markets about the perceived generation gap, with installation exhibitions providing an AR interactive experience from next Saturday to October 29 in the area of Travessa do Armazém Velho (“Old Warehouse Lane”), the statement said.
The event aims to provide a platform for people born in different generations to communicate and get to know each other, and to attract consumers of different ages to participate, the statement said.
