Integrated resort (IR) operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) recently won the Gold Award for Climate Change Initiative in the Sustainability and Social Responsibility Category for its “Galaxy Entertainment Group Environmental and Sustainability Practices” at the 2023 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award Ceremony, according to a GEG statement last week.

The statement noted that the ceremony was held in the Indian capital New Delhi, with the award-winning initiative covering GEG’s major efforts in seven areas: “Enhancement of energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, reducing carbon emissions, environmental protection, deepening team members’ environmental awareness and climate change impact evaluation”.

The company is dedicated to complying with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and the ISO 50001 Energy Management System’s international standards, and establishing the Energy and Environmental Management Committee to steer green implementation into its daily operations, aiming to reduce its carbon footprint, promote environmental protection through multi-pronged approaches and offer green travel experiences for tourists and residents, the statement noted.

The statement added that GEG spreads the importance of environmental protection to its staff and customers, and “encourages them to adopt sustainable green lifestyle practices and contribute to environmental protection”.

Moreover, the statement pointed out that the IR operator has been fulfilling its pledge to protect the environment and facilitate the city’s sustainable development throughout the years. Many of GEG’s efforts have received recognitions and certificates from international and professional organisations.
