A seminar titled “The Impacts and Challenges of New Technologies on Casino Surveillance” was recently held by the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), which was attended by industry professionals and graduate students specialising in gaming and recreation management, as well as researchers and educators, the public university said in a statement on Monday.
The statement noted that the seminar, which was co-organised by MPU’s Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies in conjunction with the Macao Association of Young Employees in the Gaming Industry, covered topics including “Considerations for the Application of New Technologies to Gaming Technical Standards” and “A Brief Discussion on the Application and Development of Artificial Intelligence in Gaming and Related Fields”.
Emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) were also introduced, along with their integration into the casino and tourism industry, and the challenges they pose for casino regulation, according to the statement.
The seminar’s presentations were delivered by MPU Associate Prof. Tang Su Kit and industry experts Manson Yip (葉家輝) and Chris Fong (馮學銘). A discussion section was also held, which the statement noted, was “lively”.
The statement added that the centre will continue to collaborate with the industry in organising more “high-quality seminars”, aiming to contribute to the development of Macau’s gaming and tourism industry, as well as its emerging sectors.
