Integrated resort operator MGM said in a statement on Monday that the “hush! Beach Concerts x Urban Yo~ga Wellfest”, which it co-organised with the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and took place over the weekend, drew over 20,000 locals and tourists.

The statement noted that the event also saw the debut of MGM’s wellness flagship programme “Urban Yo~ga Wellfest”, which integrated tourism, health and music industries for outdoor yoga and fitness experiential zones at Hac Sa Beach and brought together over 40 “internationally renowned” yoga and wellness instructors to Macau onsite at the event.

The “Wellfest” comprised three themed zones: Zen Garden, Fit District, and The Playground. The courses covered traditional yoga practices and innovative wellness techniques, and other highlights included Macau’s first-ever gong bath* outdoor experience, according to the statement.

MGM Brand Marketing Senior Vice President Catarina Lio (廖頴琦) was quoted in the statement as saying: “Through the mega event, we aimed to permeate the well-being concept into the local community, sparking public interest in health, and generating demand to drive the sustainable development of Macau’s wellness industry”.

She added: “This event not only acts as a platform for international exchanges to propel the advancement of the local wellness industry, but also showcases Macau’s allure as a diverse tourism and sports city.”

A series of music and wellness activities were also held in different districts in Macau from October 27 to November 5, while MGM and the Cultural Affairs Bureau also co-organised the “Music Cruise”, the statement said.

The statement added that MGM will host another wellness event, Macau’s first “WellFitXplore”, from next Monday to Wednesday at MGM COTAI to further promote the development of the wellness industry. It will feature over 300 wellness professionals from the Asia-Pacific region, the statement underlined.
