Health Bureau (SSM) Director Alvis Lo Iek Long said on Friday that the extended services on the bureau’s Electronic Health Record Platform (eHR) have been launched to allow more healthcare providers to gain access to residents’ health records through their “Macao One Account” mobile app.
Dr Lo made the remarks in a press conference on Friday at the bureau’s headquarters, adding that the extended services aim to raise residents’ awareness of self-management in health. He also said that the services are in line with the government’s development of smart medical care.
Dr Lo noted that the local private healthcare providers that have joined the eHR include Kiang Wu Hospital, the University Hospital run by the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), Macau Yinkui Hospital and the Workers Stadium Health Clinic next to the Barrier Gate border checkpoint.
Dr Lo said the aim was to further improve the quality and efficiency of medical services, enhance the safety and consistency of medical care, optimise the use of medical resources and reduce the duplication of examinations and laboratory tests for residents, adding that the bureau is urging more private medical institutions to participate.
The eHR was launched last year to allow healthcare providers to share local residents’ electronic health information, such as clinical files, medical consultation records, prescriptions and medical examination reports.
According to Dr Lo, the updates of eHR include a wider coverage of public and private healthcare providers, more health information categories, as well as a new and more convenient intuitive interface
