Macau’s mobile phone imports fell by 53.5 percent year on year to 4.37 billion patacas in the first 10 months of the year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.
However, gold jewellery imports rose by 52.4 percent to 11.98 billion patacas, while food-and-beverage imports grew by 28.6 percent to 19.89 billion patacas. F&B and gold jewellery imports were Macau’s top import items between January and October.
Imports of beauty, cosmetic and skincare products decreased by 33.8 percent to 11.0 billion patacas.
Total imports rose by 2.1 percent to 117.37 billion patacas, while total exports dropped by 3.8 percent to 10.86 billion patacas. Re-exports accounted for 88.0 percent of all exports.
Macau’s merchandise trade balance deficit amounted to 128.23 billion patacas.
Most of Macau’s imports originated from the Chinese mainland (28.0 percent), France (16.5 percent and Italy (11.9 percent).
