Macau residents can now make an online appointment on the local government’s Macao One Account app to apply for the issuance or renewal of their Home Return Permit (回鄉證) the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) said in a statement yesterday.
The new measure started yesterday.
A Home Return Permit is a card for Macau residents who are Chinese nationals to travel to the mainland.
China Travel Service (CTS) Macau receives and handles applications for the issuance and renewal of Macau residents’ Home Returns Permits.
Yesterday’s statement said that the new service can get off the ground thanks to cooperation between the local government and CTS Macau, an agency authorised by the National Immigration Administration (NIA) to receive Home Return Permits’ applications.
Thanks to data connection between the local government and CTS Macau, the statement said, up to 70 percent of personal information will be automatically filled in when Macao One Account users are making their appointment on the app.
