Taiwanese scholar Shaw Chong-hai said yesterday on the sidelines of a forum at the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) about cross-Strait relations he hoped that Macau will continue to act as a platform for relations between the mainland and Taiwan.
Shaw is dean of the College of Social Sciences of the Chinese Culture University (CCU) in Taiwan. According to the IPM website, Shaw has been engaged in studies of cross-Strait relations for 25 years. He is also researching Taiwan’s relations with Macau and Hong Kong.
Shaw, who was one of the speakers at the forum, told reporters that several Taiwanese scholars had been refused entry into Hong Kong recently, adding that Macau had also imposed certain entry restrictions on Taiwanese with a certain political background.
