French luxury department store Galeries Lafayette is slated to make its Macau debut, with a grand opening set for next Friday, according to a statement provided by Forward Fashion (International) Holdings Company Limited earlier this week.
The upmarket French department store chain is housed in the five-storey, 400,000 sq ft (37,161 sq m) YOHO Treasure Island Resorts World Shopping Centre adjacent to Rotunda de Ferreira do Amaral. The hotel, which is in its soft opening stage, is also slated have its grand opening on the same day.
Galeries Lafayette Macau measures at 35,000 square feet and features over 100 international and designer brands, according to the statement, including over 10 “First-in-Macau” brands and the cross-brand area “EDIT by Galeries Lafayette”. A 7-metre indoor replica of the Eiffel Tower is also featured.
The opening day will also see a drone show hosted at 7 p.m. above Nam Van Lake and will be presented by Galeries Lafayette Macau and British cosmetics company Charlotte Tilbury, which will be the UK brand’s inaugural drone show in Macau.
Moreover, the shopping centre also features US fast-food chain Five Guys, designer toy brand POP MART, sports brand Under Armour, high-end fitness centre UFC Gym, and BEEBEELAND, an integrated leisure and entertainment centre suitable for all age groups, the statement noted.
Galeries Lafayette was founded in Paris in 1894. Macau marks a further extension of the company’s presence in China where it already has stores in Beijing and Shanghai. Another one is reportedly planned to open in Chongqing later this year.
