The University of Macau (UM) said in a statement on Wednesday that it will offer Master of Science programmes in Construction Project Management and Smart Ocean Technology, both two-year programmes, in the coming 2024/2025 academic year.
Applications for both programmes are now open.
In the MSc in Construction Project Management, the statement noted that students will gain knowledge and skills necessary to “address current and future challenges in the construction environment”.
According to the statement, students will also gain an understanding of project management principles and learn to apply them across different stages of the construction project development cycle, while the programme will also provide students with the state-of-the-art knowledge and technology in the construction industry.
Meanwhile, the MSc in Smart Ocean Technology aims to train students to master the principles and techniques of information and data acquisition in oceans, big data science and advanced data processing, among others, the statement said, adding that students will learn to apply the skills to the research and development of marine equipment, marine observation and forecasting, and marine management.
UM Faculty of Science and Technology Dean and Chair Prof. Xu Cheng-Zhong was quoted by the statement as saying that the new programmes are launched in response to intensifying global competition and aim to provide essential talent support for the appropriate diversification of Macau’s economic development.

Meanwhile, the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) is also set to launch a PhD programme in Business Administration, the public university said in a separate statement on Wednesday.
The three-year course is now open for applications and comprises nine subjects, including four core subjects and five elective subjects, the statement noted. More details can be found on mpu.mo/admission, while enquiries can be made by calling 8599 6111.
