Macau's 30 casinos run by six rival operators generated gross gaming revenue (GGR) of 19.3 billion patacas (US$2.39 billion) last month, a year-on-year growth of 67.0 percent, the Gaming and Inspection Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has announced today.
Last month's GGR was the highest since last October, which stood at 19.5 billion patacas.
Last month's GGR reached 77.5 percent of the one in pre-pandemic January 2019, which amounted to 24.9 billion patacas. Macau confirmed its first COVID-19 case in January 2020, when GGR fell 11.3 percent year on year to 22.1 billion patacas.
Month-on-month, last month's GGR was up by 4.1 percent.
Baccarat is by far the most popular game of chance in Macau's casinos. According to the latest available official figures, baccarat generated 85.0 percent (155.6 billion patacas) of local casinos' GGR (183.0 billion patacas) in 2023
