Residents can now register their motor vehicles and transfer the motor vehicles’ ownership through the “Macao One Account” or the “Business & Associations Platform” mobile apps without having to go through the process in person, Legal Affairs Bureau (DSAJ) Deputy Director Lou Soi Cheong announced yesterday.

Lou made the remarks yesterday during a press conference announcing the official launch of the government’s online car registration service, with the attendance of Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) Department Chief Chan Chi Kin and representatives from the Commercial and Movable Property Registry and Transport Bureau (DSAT).

A government-initiated new law allowing residents to complete their car registration online took effect yesterday.

The Commercial and Movable Property Registry will no longer issue or reissue the owner registration certificate, while the certificate already issued will remain valid until there is a change in the information contained therein, Lou said.

Members of the public can check whether their motor vehicle has a valid title through the DSAJ online platform at https://online-service.rn.dsaj.gov.mo/vehicle/vehicle-platform/info.

Registration of fresh and live food retail establishments

In addition, Lou also announced that the government’s newly-launched “Business & Associations Platform” mobile app, which is exclusively for enterprises and associations, is now officially open for registration of fresh and live food retail establishments.

According to a new administrative regulation which took effect yesterday, those who intend to run a retail business selling fresh food in a shop need to register with the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), but the regulation does not cover wet-market stalls and vendor stalls.

According to Lou, upon online application, the Municipal Affairs Bureau will issue a registration certificate for fresh and live food retail establishments within 30 working days.

Lou said the applicants may log into the electronic platform to check the application progress anytime, and upon obtaining the relevant electronic registration certificate, applicants can download and print it on white A4 paper and post it in a conspicuous place at the premises as required.

Currently, the electronic platform provides a total of nearly 90 services and has around 11,000 entities registered, according to Chan.

Chan noted that the “Macao One Account” and the “Business & Associations Platform” mobile apps provide a total of 14 vehicle-related integrated services, with the former including 180,000 users who registered their motor vehicles and the processing of 380,000 traffic fines, as well as motor vehicle tax payments that reached 280 million patacas last year, according to Chan.
