The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) announced in a statement on Friday that it will be launching its second “Nursing Assistant Training Course” this year, with applications open until February 28.
The statement noted that the course, which is supported by the Health Bureau (SSM), will cover biology, health and medical nursing concepts and information technology (IT) in the medical field, among others. The “cultivation of personal and professional talents” such as communication skills, quality and safety are also included.
A briefing session was recently held for the course and was attended by over 100 participants. They also visited the course lab and teaching facilities.
MPU Centre for Continuing Education Acting Director Maggie Hau (侯詠珊) said during the session that the course was being launched in response to the needs of local health care institutions, to train nursing assistants, and to improve the knowledge and skills of caregivers, according to the statement, and aims to continue to provide training to those interested in joining the healthcare profession.
MPU Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports Associate Dean Bernice Lam Nogueira (林愛貞) noted that the course aims to contribute to the development of a “people-centred”, high-quality medical service system, while the course programme was introduced by the faculty’s Associate Prof. Dr Cynon Chan (陳玉文), the statement added.
