Conducted by Christian Almin from Austria, the Macao Orchestra (OM) will stage a 1 ½ -hour long “The Violin Case of Bomsori Kim” concert at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) Grand Auditorium at 8 p.m. tomorrow, during which South Korean classical violinist Bomsori Kim will perform a violin concerto by Danish composer Carl Nielsen, aiming to bring a feast of colourful sounds to the audience, according to an OM statement yesterday.
According to the OM website, Kim, 34, has won numerous prizes in over 10 international violin competitions, including the prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition, the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition. It added that she has so far amassed nearly thirty awards, with her performances having even been lauded by “The Strad”, the renowned British string music magazine, as embodying “the sound of spring”.
The statement said that led by Almin, the orchestra will perform Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Études-Tableaux” (“Study Paintings”), adapted by French composer Joseph Maurice Ravel and Italian composer Ottorino Respighi, and Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”.
The statement noted that tickets priced at 300 patacas, 250 patacas, 200 patacas and 150 patacas are available at www.macauticket.com.
The concert is part of the “Macao Orchestra 2023-24 Concert Season” programme, co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the city’s six integrated resort (IR) operators, as well as Macao Orchestra Company Limited.
