A Filipino security guard of a hospital in Taipa has been arrested for forcibly kissing a 20-year-old female university student from the mainland on her face and neck last week, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Chan Hong said yesterday.
The suspect in his forties is surnamed Rola, Lei noted.
According to the victim’s account, Lei said, she went to the hospital on Wednesday morning to seek outpatient treatment for a hand injury, during which the security guard, whom she had asked about matters concerning the hospital, touched the wound on her hand for several minutes. The victim said that the guard touched her wound again when she was leaving the hospital after the treatment.
The victim reported the case to the police that night after she had met the guard again near the hospital who asked her to have a chat in the area, Lei said, adding that the victim was then forcibly kissed by the suspect on the face and neck.
According to Lei, PSP officers arrested Rola at the hospital the next day. Under questioning, the suspect admitted to touching and kissing the woman, claiming that he had merely intended to comfort her.
Rola has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a sexual harassment charge, Lei said during yesterday’s regular press conference.
