The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) warned the public yesterday to stop drinking a Japanese-made sparkling sake product which was found to possibly contain an ingredient causing a health risk.

The problematic product is named MIO Premium Rose, with a capacity of 750ml (barcode 4904670 227636) and 300ml (barcode 4904670 227605) respectively, according to yesterday’s IAM statement.

In the statement, the bureau urges local merchants to stop supplying and selling the product, while calling those in possession of the product to contact the bureau’s Food Safety Department on 2833 8181.

The statement underlined that a food alert has been issued to the market while, at the same time, the bureau has also deployed officials to inspect retail outlets.
