Scientific and innovation enterprises from Macau and elsewhere in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) have jointly established a innovation and technology trading centre, which aims to select cutting-edge technologies with investment potential and development prospects for research institutions, enterprises and investors, and promotes the transformation of scientific and technological achievements of enterprises, Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) Deputy Director Chan Tze Wai announced yesterday.
Chan made the remarks during the unveiling ceremony of the centre at Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre yesterday afternoon, adding she believed that the centre can promote the transformation of intellectual property achievements and play a positive role in helping the GBA develop new quality productivity.
The Macau government is committed to creating a good environment for intellectual property protection and promoting the integrated development of intellectual property rights and science and technology economy, Chan said.
Wang Hu, the co-founder and technical director of the centre, said that the centre initially planned the setting-up of a science and innovation ecosystem with 100 enterprises, including start-ups, research institutions and investment institutions, which was now close to its target. However, most of the enterprises are not from Macau, with right now fewer than 10 Macau enterprises involved, Wang added.
Industry and Commerce Association of Macau (INCA) President Kevin Ho King Lun said that the centre has strengthened cooperation with the State Key Laboratories at universities in Macau, and he believed that the centre can enhance the confidence of enterprises and research projects at local universities.
