A study tour taking senior high-school students to visit the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin kicked off yesterday, with the aim of enabling them to gain a thorough understanding of the latest industry developments and dynamics in the zone.
The launch ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at the Macau Science Centre (MSC) in Nape, with 350 students attending. They will be in the first batch of students going on the trip to Hengqin.
The programme is co-organised by the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and the Macau Youth Development Service Centre.
Livelihood Affairs Bureau Director Huang Yujie pointed out during the ceremony that since the establishment of the in-depth cooperation zone, the bureau has organised nine phases of the “Macau Youth Internship Programme”, involving about 2,000 Macau youths. He also said that, the “Macau Youth Exchange Programme” has so far invited more than 14,000 Macau youths to visit the zone.
Huang also said that the zone will actively connect with Macau’s public services and civil society at an even more profound level and in more areas, so as to provide more support for Macau’s youth to participate in the zone’s development, and to create a better atmosphere and more opportunities for them.
DSEDJ Acting Director Teng Sio Hong said in his speech at the ceremony he hoped that young people will learn more about the overall development and future planning of the zone through the tour, so that they can actively participate in the development of Hengqin and Macau in the future.
