The Judiciary Police (PJ) will launch an anti-cyberfraud WeChat Mini Programme this week, where users can verify suspicious phone numbers or bank accounts, report fraud, and get information on telecommunication network fraud, according to a PJ statement on Saturday.
The statement said users will also be able to experience the notorious “fake police scam” and “guess who I am” telephone and cyber fraud, as well as online investment scam fraud techniques and routines.
The statement said that the programme is based on local laws and public usage habits in line with the actual situation in Macau. Moreover, the statement noted, the programme aims to further enhance the public’s awareness of preventing telecommunications network fraud and reduce the risk of people being cheated.
The statement urged members of the public to follow the PJ’s WeChat public account so that they can be notified as soon as the anti-fraud mini programme is launched, and suggested users recommend it to their friends and relatives, so as to continuously build up a strong line of defence for the police and the public against cyberfraud.
