A local male student in his twenties was arrested on Monday for touching the buttocks of a South Korean woman in her thirties in Calçada da Feitoria in the Praia do Manduco area last Friday afternoon, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Kong Chi Ian said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Kong identified the suspect, thanks to CCTV footage and the police forces’ citywide CCTV surveillance system, as a young person surnamed Ng.
According to Kong, the Public Security Police received the sexual harassment report from the female victim last Friday evening and arrested the suspect in Rua de Ponte e Horta on Monday afternoon.
Under questioning, Ng admitted that attracted by the victim, he followed her along the street and committed the offence that day.
Ng has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a sexual harassment charge, Kong noted.
