“Orbis Raffle Charity Street Sale” events are set to be held tomorrow and next Sunday, with the raffle aimed at raising funds for the non-governmental organisation’s (NGO) global paediatric sight-saving programmes and sustainable training in low-and-middle income communities, Orbis Macau said in a statement yesterday.

The charity raffle, which this year offers 96 prizes, is among the nonprofit’s annual key campaigns and marks its 15th edition this year. The campaign, according to Orbis Macau’s website, is on until June 30.

For the raffle ticket sale event, an Orbis booth will be set up in front of Pui Ching Middle School tomorrow, targeting Horta e Costa and its surrounding areas, while a booth will be set up in Taipa next Sunday by the Flower City Park on Rua de Seng Tou, according to the statement. The booths will be open from 12 noon to 6 p.m., with 10-pataca tickets available both printed or in an e-raffle.

The statement said that around 90 million children and adolescents worldwide live with different degrees of vision loss, with 90 percent of them living in under-resourced regions and countries and, therefore, have limited or no access to eye care and treatment.

Orbis, its partners, Volunteer Faculty and supporters have been “directing concerted efforts to prevent and treat avoidable paediatric visual impairments and blindness through their sight-saving programmes and sustainable training – with the ultimate goal to ensure that quality eye care will be made available so that no child will have to needlessly live with avoidable blindness”, the statement added.

“Orbis Macau calls on the people of Macau to support this meaningful cause, inviting everyone to take part in the Charity Street Sales”, the NGO said in the statement.

The statement said that the non-profit had the generous support of the sponsors of this year’s lucky draw to put together the 96 prizes, valued at over 408,000 patacas.
