The Public Security Police (PSP) announced two shoplifting cases during a regular press conference yesterday.
In the first case, PSP spokesman Wong Wai Chon identified the 60-year-old suspect as a local woman surnamed Lao, who told the police she’s jobless.
According to Wong, in late March, a shop in the northern district reported to the police that a skin-care product valued at 3,300 patacas had been stolen. PSP officers identified Lao with the help of CCTV footage and apprehended her on Thursday.
Under questioning, she admitted to the theft and told the police that the skin-care product was for herself.
In the second case, the suspect surnamed Lou is in her twenties. She is a university student.
According to Wong, in February an employee of a clothing shop in a Cotai shopping mall reported to the police the theft of a scarf and a handbag worth a total of 1,300 patacas. The employee also found security tags cut off from the items hidden in a bag inside the shop.
Lou was arrested in her flat in Areia Preta. Under questioning, she admitted to stealing the items out of greed. She claimed that she had thrown away both the scarf and handbag.
The two suspects have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing theft charges, according to Wong.
