SJM has again partnered with Forbes Travel Guide to host a four-day “Luxury Service Experience Bootcamp” for local tertiary education students following the “Curating Luxury Experience in Hospitality” that they organised in April, according to a statement from the integrated resort (IR) operator.

The statement said that the bootcamp comprised workshops on luxury service standards, evaluations and hands-on experiences, and a team presentation, aiming to enable students to “learn about the service industry benchmark based on Forbes Travel Guide’s rating system and to gain in-depth understanding of professional and high-end customer service through practical application”.

The bootcamp’s participants comprised students from University of Macau (UM), Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), Macao University of Tourism (UTM), Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), City University of Macau, and University of Saint Joseph (USJ), according to the statement.

The statement said that a luxury service standards workshop was led by Forbes Travel Guide Learning & Development Manager of Asia Pacific Summer Xiang and supported by SJM Learning and Development team.

Moreover, the SJM Learning and Development team also took the students to visit Grand Lisboa Macau, Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, THE KARL LAGERFELD MACAU, and Palazzo Versace Macau in the second part of the bootcamp, during which they gained experience at the front desk, learnt about operations in guest rooms, in-room dining, restaurants, and the checkout processes, the statement said.

The statement added that the participants also practiced applying the Forbes Travel Guide’s service standards while conducting service reviews and assessments in different areas.

On the final day, the statement said that the students were divided into six teams by institution and presented their findings and conclusions to Forbes Travel Guide Asia Pacific Partner Services Vice President Jessie Law and SJM representatives.

UM, UTM and City University of Macau students won first, second, and third respectively, with the teams winning luxury accommodation and dining vouchers from SJM, the statement said. The UTM team also took home the Most Creative Recommendation Award.
